A New Layer of LANDesk Protection
The new LANDesk® Antivirus – Mail Server solution from Avocent adds another protective layer to endpoint security to safeguard your corporate mail servers against external threats and prevent virus outbreaks within corporate networks. Its main mission is to defend mailboxes, public folders, and relayed email located on Microsoft Exchange Server 2007 against malicious programs. It does this by antivirus scans of email traffic, messages in mailboxes and public folders, and by disinfecting infected objects using information in the current version of its databases.
You may already know LANDesk for our multi-layered security solutions, including LANDesk® Security Suite, LANDesk® Host Intrusion Prevention (HIPS), and LANDesk® Antivirus, which provide industry-leading protection against viruses, worms, Trojans, spyware, rootkits and other malicious code.
The new LANDesk Antivirus – Mail Server solution scans in real time all email traffic passing through the protected Microsoft Exchange Server, including all attachments, OLE objects and attached messages, as well as the message body. The solution offers effective detection and removal of viruses, creating a reliable barrier that blocks infected emails from penetrating the corporate network. Some of the capabilities that LANDesk Antivirus – Mail Server delivers include:
- Scanning of email databases and “old” messages
Scans messages received prior to installing the program for viruses and other malicious code or re-scans messages in the background after updating the antivirus databases.
- Proactive protection for detecting virus outbreaks to increase the antivirus protection level of your systems
- Protection from potentially hostile software
Protects the mail server from potentially hostile software, including remote monitoring and control programs (which are not categorized as malicious), programs that use the modem to automatically dial premium numbers, etc.
- Automatic antivirus database updates
